I have waited the longest I possibly could until finally posting an article on the transformation of Bruce to Caitlyn Jenner. Because this topic is one that I take seriously, I wanted to wait for my anger to subside, so that I could write clear headed and without malice in order to bring enlightenment to those who are blinded by the strangeness of the situation.
While on other social medias (Facebook and Twitter), I have seen many blog posts and pictures/memes that comment, criticize, and poke fun at Caitlyn's personal and private choice of .transforming from a male to a woman. After being utterly shocked and disgusted by the amount of social media "friends" who share the same close minded and self-righteous perspectives about the LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) community, it was safe to say I was at least 50 friends less after my de-friending and de-judgmental spree.
The variety of people I have seen stating shockingly hateful comments about Caitlyn are either: Bible thumpers (I am Christian so don't get your panties in a bunch), southern rednecks, or super "manly mans" who most likely have to overcompensate for their manhood inferiority complex (the same ones who have to play some football and sweat smelly man sweat after seeing Vanity Fair's new cover). The truth is everyone: Caitlyn is hot. Bruce looks the happiest and healthiest anyone has ever seen him (obviously since after his Olympic days), and anyone who has ever seen at least one train wreck episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians can agree.
Although I have seen a lot of accepting and supportive people, there are many who have yet to realize we are in the 21st century. The world is progressing and changing from the once, suppressive and egocentric place it used to be. If you are someone who believes someone else's happiness, that does not physically harm others, affects you personally, go back to the 1800's, nobody wants or needs you here. Progression- that is whats happening and will continue to happen, whether your close minded opinions like it or not.
All of Jenner's critics have one thing in common: they are afraid of what they don't understand. I have seen numerous "Christian" bloggers claim that "because God is perfect Bruce is a guy. God doesn't make mistakes, if God wanted Bruce to be a girl than he would have made him a girl". First things first, do not ever try to make a legitimate argument for yourself by using religion and Bible verses when you are debating with people who are not religious, your verses mean nothing. As a fellow Christian, I could be bias towards my opinion of Caitlyn's transformation, but I am not. I am Christian, but I am still a human-being with empathy and compassion. It is sad seeing Christian's turn into overly obedient sociopathic robots, and what is even more sad is seeing these personality lacking robots act as the biggest hypocrites. Everyone "sins", yes even those of you who go to church every Sunday. Stop being so self righteous and critiquing other people's "sins" just because they "sin" differently than you. Your shit doesn't smell like roses.
I'm pretty sure adultery is a sin, as is pre-marital sex, eating too much food, being jealous and getting drunk, yet almost everyone in the freaking world has partaked in these actions. If you are Christian, great for you, you are eternally saved, but that does not mean you can be equally judgmental as you are holy, remember "love thy neighbor as you love yourself, there is no other commandment greater than these"? You do not have to believe that what Caitlyn is and stands for is right, you just have to be accepting of it (or at least keep your hate to a private minimum).
Although most people may not know, Caitlyn, like many other members of the LGTB community, is Christian/religious. In fact, during Caitlyn's interview with Diane Sawyer (I suggest watching) he brought up the subject of how who he is is a sin. Caitlyn admitted that a big reason he kept his identity a secret was his internal struggle of who he is and how God looks at him/her. With that being said, I at least respect people who are religious and don't accept Caitlyn vs. people who are not religious and still don't accept Caitlyn just because it goes against what society perceives as the norm.
Which brings me to my next subject of people who believe that transgenders choose their lifestyle. I don't think that people choose to live their lives being hated by others (including their family), forever made fun of, judged, depressed and in some cases suicidal. With the rate being 41% of transgenders having tried suicide, it is not a choice they gladly make.
LESSON OF THE DAY: Are you the one going through a sex change? I don't think so. Get your head out of where the sun don't shine and realize that one man's extremely difficult personal choice does not effect you in any way what so ever. If someone's final happiness, after 65 years of constant depression, self loathing, and suicidal tendencies, makes you uncomfortable or disgusts you, it is you, sir, who has the "problems". Caitlyn can fix his gender with surgeries, no matter how extensive or expensive, but you my friend are stuck with a less than desirable personality.
